SKRIPSI (6620) - Indication of Bid Rigging in Waste Management Business Practices
In the early 2000s, waste management in Indonesia was not a significant concern for business actors due to the challenges associated with obtaining and managing such waste. This resulted in low competition and a lack of interest in waste management business activities. Some business actors exploited this situation by engaging in unfair practices, including bid rigging, which distorted fair competition. Bid rigging is prohibited under Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning the Prohibition of Monopoly Practices and Unfair Business Competition (Antimonopoly Law), as it undermines the goal of tender, which aim to provide equal opportunities for all participants.
By investigating the situation in Karawang, a region with high industrial activity and waste, this research underscores the importance of transparent and ethical waste management practices and the impact of such practice. Ultimately, this research highlights a case of bid rigging in the procurement of waste processing infrastructure development in Bandung, where several parties coordinated to manipulate the tender process to their advantage, leading to an unfair business climate.
